Robbery - 17th and Rhode Island

Officer Cooper and Officer Arndt responded to the 600 blk of Rhode Island regarding a purse snatch. Officers spoke with the victim who stated that she was walking on Mariposa and 17th when two unknown males approached her and grabbed her purse. The victim attempted to hold onto the bag, but was unsuccessful. The suspects took her bag and fled the area.

Officer Macias, as well as numerous Bayview units responded to the 300 blk of Mississippi. Officer Macias met with the victim, who stated that he was waiting for a taxi when he was approached by an unknown suspect and struck in the side of the face. The victim fell to the ground. The suspect asked the victim for his belongings. In fear, the victim gave the suspect his wallet, cash and cell phone. The suspect got into a waiting vehicle with three other suspects inside and drove away. The victim was not injured during the incident.

Officer Balingit and Macias were on patrol in the area of 17th and Wisconsin, where they were flagged down by a citizen regarding a robbery. Officers met with and spoke to the victim, who was bleeding form the nose and mouth. A medic was immediately called to the scene to treat the victim, who sustained cuts to her face. The victim told officers that she was walking in the area of 17th/DeHaro when an unknown suspect pushed her from behind. The victim fell to the ground, hitting her face on the ground. The suspect took her shoulder bag and fled the area.

Officers Rodriguez and Balingit responded to the 1800 blk of 25th St regarding an assault. Officers spoke to one of the two victims who
had a black and blue eye, and was nervous and shaking. The victim told the officers that she and her mother had gotten off the Muni bus at 23rd/Wisconsin when several unknown black female suspects attempted
to take their purses. The victims would not give up their purses, which enraged the suspects, causing them to punch and kick the victims.
The suspects fled the area after the attempt. The victims refused
medical help. Officers were unable to locate the suspects.

Officer Hope and Training Officer Neves responded to the 800 Blk of
Arkansas regarding a shooting. Officers spoke with the victim who
stated that there was a bullet hole through the window in the
upstairs
portion of his residence. A second victim stated that he was
awakened
by the sound of gun fire and glass breaking. Both victims realized
the
damage caused by the gun fire the next morning. Officers made note
of
the bullet hole and collected the casing. While nobody was injured
during the incident, the bullet had traveled and lodged into the
sheetrock wall, which adjoined the room where the victim had been
sleeping when the shooting occurred.

Assault w/Gun - 17th St and Arkansas St
June 12, 2008 – 3:08 PM – Aggravated Assault with a Gun – 17th and Arkansas – CS# 080 616 053 - Numerous Bayview Officers responded to Jackson Playground located at 17th and Arkansas Streets regarding a fight involving serveral persons. Prior to the officer’s arrival the melee had ended. Two witnesses told officers that a group of students from an area school were walking and were approached by three males. An argument ensued; one of the males took a handgun from his waistband and smacked one individual on the side of the head. All parties then fled the scene. The witnesses gave the police the name of the suspect and the victim. Another witness believed that the suspect and victim might be brothers. A check of area hospitals for the victim was negative. The case is under investigation.

Officers spoke with two victims, who worked as janitors stated that the suspects robbed them at gunpoint in the kitchen area. The suspects fled on foot and several witnesses came forward with the information regarding the incident. No arrest was made.

Officer Curry, our School Resource Officer, responded to a fight taking place at a school in the district. Curry located the victim and suspect in a classroom, which was in disarray. The victim told the officer that the suspect had attacked him on a bus the day before, and attempted to rob him. The suspect was taken to YGC by his parents at the direction of Officer Curry. The victim was taken to SFGH where he was treated for a head injury from the attack on the bus.

Officers spoke with one of the three victims who stated that he was seated in his car when a suspect opened the door and pointed a black gun at the victim, while demanding his keys and bag. The second victim, seated in the passenger seat, stated that a second suspect opened her door and took her purse, then ran up the street. The first suspect ran up the street as well. The third victim, seated in the back seat, stated that the she saw the gun, but was not robbed. No one was injured during the incident. No arrest was made.

Officers spoke with two victims who stated that they had pulled his truck over when a suspect walked up to their truck and lifted up his shirt, revealing a gun in his waistband. The suspect approached the truck window and demanded money from the victims. The victim gave the suspect all their money and their cell phones. The suspect then told the victims to drive away quickly or he would shoot them. The victim drove away and then went around the block to see if the suspect was still there. Officers searched the area for the suspects and witnesses, to no avail.

Officers Guzman and Gummo responded to 18th /DeHaro regarding a robbery with a gun. Officers met with three victims who told officers that they had all been robbed at gunpoint. All three victims told officers that two unknown males pulled guns out of their jackets and robbed all three of them of all their belongings. Sgt. Hagan, of the plainclothes unit, detained a vehicle on Mariposa and San Bruno with the suspects inside. The victims positively identified the suspects, who were taken into custody and placed under arrest. All of the victims’ belongings were returned to them. No one was injured during the incident.

Officers spoke with the victim who told officers that she had spoken to a person on the phone regarding buying a laptop computer from him that he had listed on Craig’s List. The person on the phone told her to meet him at 20th/Tennessee. She arrived and saw a person standing under the bus shelter. She approached the man and asked if he was the one with the laptop for sale. The man replied by telling her to give him her purse. The suspect then pulled out a silver gun and demanded her purse. The suspect ran from the scene with the purse. She chased him down the block while screaming for help. The suspect threw her purse under a car and kept going. Officers searched the area for the suspect, to no avail. The victim was not hurt during the incident.

Reserve Officer Guituan took a report at Bayview Station regarding an attempted theft of a vehicle. The victim told R.O. Guituan that she had parked and secured her car on the corner of 19th/Carolina. She came out the next day to find her passenger door unlocked and her ignition damaged by someone trying to “punch it”. The victim stated that neither she or her neighbors heard anything during the night. No arrest was made.

The victim told officers that he got out of a car, walked up the stairs to his house and heard a commotion on the street. He went back to the street and found 3 unknown suspects trying to rob his friend in the car he had just gotten out of. One of the suspects pointed a black semi automatic handgun at him and his friend and took their wallets and cell phone. The suspects then fled, on foot, in an unknown direction.

Inspector Garrity of the Robbery Detail was in the area of Potrero Hill investigating a robbery series . Inspector Garrity was on foot looking for the suspects involved in the robbery. Inspector Garrity saw two suspects walking in the area matching the description of suspects involved in the series. Inspector Garrity called for other police units to detain the two suspects. Two sherriff’s deputies stopped and detained the two suspects and recovered a loaded gun on one of the suspects. Several victims positively identified the suspects as the suspects who robbed them at gunpoint. Both suspects were booked at YGC (YOUTH GUIDANCE CENTER) for robbery.
